Search Adams County Inmates

The Adams County Sheriff's Office runs a free public tool to search for Adams County inmates held at the Adams County Detention Facility in Brighton. People use the Adams County jail roster search to confirm a friend or family member is in custody, check booking details, plan a HomeWAV video visit, mail letters, or post bond. Sheriff Gene Claps oversees the Jail Division under Chief Bill Dunning. The roster covers people booked at the county jail. It does not show state prison inmates, federal inmates, or people held in other Colorado counties.

Adams County Detention Facility

The Adams County Detention Facility sits at 150 N. 19th Ave. in Brighton. The building houses people awaiting trial and people serving short sentences who are waiting to move to a state prison or another county. Jail staff handle intake, classification, court transport, and release. The facility runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Chief Bill Dunning leads the Jail Division.

The ACSO Jail Division page lists the main units inside the jail: Booking, Court Security, Civil Unit, Detectives, Transport, Bonding, Court Services, Programs, Jail Records, Supervised Release, and Technical Services. Each unit feeds part of what a search result shows.

The Jail Division page sets out the mission, vision, and values used by staff. Bookings tie into Adams County arrest records and active court cases at the Justice Center at 1100 Judicial Center Drive. The Court Services Unit moves inmates between the jail and the Justice Center for hearings.

ACSO Inmate Search Fields

The Adams County inmate search portal uses a short form. ACSO recommends typing only the first few letters of a name so spelling drift does not block results. There is no required field, but a blank search will not return useful data.

Field LabelTypeRequiredNotes
First NameTextOptionalEnter the first few letters for best results.
Last NameTextOptionalEnter the first few letters. Most users start here.
Search InmatesButtonYes to submitRuns the inmate search.

ACSO posts a notice on the page that the data is for reference and not a sworn record. Records do not include sealed files or juvenile holds. The site also notes that not finding a match does not prove a person is free; call the jail to confirm.

Sample Inmate Profile Fields

The Adams County jail roster shows profile fields when a user clicks a name on the result list. ACSO did not expose a live sample profile in the browsed public text, so the chart below lists fields that should be checked on the live page. Treat the table as a field guide, not a guarantee. Confirm any data with a call to 303-654-1850 before acting on it.

FieldWhat It Shows
Inmate NameFull legal name on file with the Sheriff's Office at booking.
Booking DateDate the person was logged into the jail intake system.
ChargesCharges noted at booking; not a court finding of guilt.
BondBond set by the court, if posted to the roster.
HousingGeneral housing area if shown.
Court StatusNext court date or hold flag, where listed.

Some fields may be blank if a court has sealed part of the case or if the data has not yet posted. The roster is built for quick lookup, not as a full court file. For court-level data, use Adams County court records or the Justice Center clerk.

Booking and Custody Status

Booking starts when a person is brought to the jail by ACSO or another local police agency. Intake staff log identity, take prints, and review property. Medical and mental health screening runs next. The Booking unit then classifies the person and assigns a housing area. The Bonding unit checks for active warrants and any holds from other counties or the state.

A first court appearance usually follows within a day or two. The Court Services Unit transports inmates from the jail at 150 N. 19th Ave. to the Justice Center at 1100 Judicial Center Drive for hearings. A judge then reviews bond, holds, and any pretrial release options. The Supervised Release unit handles pretrial supervision when ordered.

Custody status on the roster reflects the result of these steps. A person may show as in-custody, out on bond, released by the court, transferred to the Colorado Department of Corrections, or moved to a treatment program. People held on federal warrants stay in the local jail until the U.S. Marshals pick them up.

ACSO Sheriff and Jail Leadership

Sheriff Gene Claps runs the agency. The ACSO leadership page lists Kevin Currier as Undersheriff, John Bungartz as Patrol Chief, and Bill Dunning as Jail Chief. Jail Captain Jesse Treblik, plus Commanders JD Cordova, Jim Hinrichs, and Michael Robbins, lead the day-to-day units inside the facility.

Detention Manager Lindsay Laughery and ADA Coordinator Sarah Titus handle access and accommodation issues at the jail. The Sheriff's leadership page is the official source for chain-of-command questions and for media or victim contacts.

Bond and Release

Bond payment is one of the most common reasons people use the Adams County jail roster. ACSO accepts in-person bond at the Detention Facility, 150 N. 19th Ave., Brighton. The lobby is open 24 hours a day for bond. Staff accept cash, money orders, and cashier's checks. Money orders and cashier's checks must be made payable to the Clerk of the Court.

The ACSO bond information page walks through the steps. Online bond runs through AllPaid, also known as govpaynow. ACSO has noted that under Colorado House Bill 25-1015, an agreement with Genesis eBONDS will allow online surety bonding once the rollout finishes. Call 303-654-1850 with bond questions.

Bond release is fast when cash is posted. Surety bond release waits on the bondsman's paperwork. Once a judge signs a release order, the Booking unit completes the paperwork and the person leaves through the Visitor's Entrance. Note: Bond posted late at night may still process the same shift, but plan for a wait.

Money orders payable to ACDF or Adams County Detention Facility can be dropped at the Visitor's Entrance main office; money posts the next business day.

Tablets inside the jail are owned and run by ViaPath. Inmates use trust account funds for tablet purchases such as music, games, and limited messaging. Phone calls run through HomeWAV. All phone calls are collect and billed to the party who accepts. Inmate rules are posted on the Sheriff's site for full do's and don'ts.
